The Mental Universe II: Questions and Answers
A Philosophical Exploration of our Ontological Postulate
Recap of our Ontological Postulate
In the beginning there exists a mysterious precosmic «ocean» of pure intelligence or primordial consciousness without any material form. This original substance, which coincides with the elusive quantum world, has neither a point of inception nor a previous cause having existed since eternity and constituting the basis of existence itself. Normal physical laws do not apply in this most fundamental state. There is not even any notion of regular time as we know it. There exists only mere potentiality in the Supreme Soul or in the mind of «God».
This transcendental and self-existent realm is the generative origin of all reality. In it are elementary blueprints or templates of all of the things that exist or could exist. These are made up of ideas or mind or incorporeal information and equate to the so-called «Substantial Forms» of the idealist philosophies of antiquity such as that of Plato. From this same eidetic or mental substratum emerge multiple cosmic realities of dense matter taking as a model its blueprints and its templates. Among them is our own universe. All observable and sensible objects simply constitute materialized reflections of the ideas and the mental abstractions of the Absolute which generates and sustains them in a similar fashion as a computer simulation, hence the famous wave function collapse of quantum theory.
Our souls or individuated units of consciousness also originate from this same base reality of primordial intelligence. We are all small fragments of the Original Source. Consciousness constitutes a fundamental property of the cosmic order. It precedes the appearance of matter. Our souls preexist. Consciousness is evolutive and always seeks to expand and elevate its own quality. This same principle of expansion also applies to our own individual consciousness. Therefore, our souls incarnate into one of the infinite worlds of dense matter which have emerged from the Original Source in order to live a myriad of life experiences within the strict constraints of materiality and thereby continue to grow in an upward manner. The tight parameters and the defined rules of these emergent realities prove to be conducive to the evolution of consciousness. The physical universes have been created expressly for this purpose.
During each incarnation the soul adapts to the constraints of its new reality. There it proceeds to experience the varied adventures and manifold challenges of a particular form of material life which allow it to overcome itself and reach ever higher levels of evolution. Life is like a dream and our body of flesh is like an avatar within its game. Then, once the physical body perishes, the soul frees itself from all of the material restrictions of its most recent incarnate life and returns to the less dense spheres of pure spirit together with its valuable experiences and its newly acquired attributes, hence the frequently attested «near-death experiences» (NDEs) which involve a disincarnation of consciousness and its subsequent relocation to another reality independent from our own. Of course, the evolution of the soul requires a great diversity of experiences and accordingly a plurality of visits to a world of dense matter. Our individual consciousness reincarnates time and again until achieving its own godhood (doctrine of «reincarnative evolution»).
1. The Preexistence of the Initial Realm of Pure Intelligence or Primordial Consciousness
If the physical universe has been generated by some prephysical entity of pure intelligence or primordial consciousness as our «Consciencialist Idealism» asserts, then from where did that original entity emerge and how?
A physical effect logically requires a physical cause. This is an incontrovertible law of physics. As a consequence, it is impossible for the matter and the forces which compose our universe simply to emerge out of nothing and without any previous cause as many materialist scientists and philosophers wish to assert. There had to have existed erstwhile some initial realm of a prephysical nature that produced them. But wouldn't such an initial realm need in turn its own even more remote previous cause? Not necessarily. An original entity made up of pure ideas or incorporeal information such as the one which we suppose is able to preexist without the need for any previous cause precisely due to its prephysicality. Physical causality does not apply at that most fundamental level of existence. Time itself does not even have concrete form being itself nothing more than an ensuing construct of the creation. The initial realm had always existed as a stream of immaterial data in a primeval atemporal state. Then at some point it decided to evolve and began to generate worlds of dense matter with exact physical laws and linear time. The materialist explanation of the origin of the universe is utterly absurd. Only an idealist theory is able to explain the genesis of the cosmos in a coherent manner.
2. The Ultimate Purpose of the Emergence of the Universe
What could be the underlying intention behind the expansion of this same prephysical initial system and its subsequent material creations?
Materialists argue—often in a dogmatic fashion—that the universe has created itself by pure chance and without any design at all. We are supposed to believe that we inhabit a sort of cold and lifeless cosmic machine produced by a long series of totally random events and devoid of any kind of meaning or transcendental purpose. However, this kind of atheistic nihilism is undoubtedly a lot more outlandish than any religious creation myth no matter how «rationalistic» it is purported to be. The deepest philosophical question that we can ask is the following: why does there exist something as opposed to nothing? In light of this consideration it becomes more logical to assume that if there exists something as opposed to nothing it will be for some specific end and if there exists furthermore something as complex and intricate as our cosmos then it is almost certain that it will include some form of design and consequently a cosmic designer. Atheism proves to be thoroughly irrational. The various theistic standpoints, on the other hand, recognize a fundamental telicity of the cosmic totality as their central axiom. Traditional religionists assert that the world has been created in order to manifest in its fullness the glory of the Creator whereas some mystical thinkers of the New Age inspired by Eastern metaphysics and the pantheistic philosophies suggest that the universe is a creation of the Universal Consciousness through which it experiences itself. What is our opinion thereon? In accordance with our ontological conception, it is most likely that the production of new worlds of dense matter (e.g., our universe) and their subsequent populating with an infinite number of individuated units of consciousness constitute a medium through which the prephysical initial system is able to evolve. If this is the case our individual evolution would continuously contribute to its global evolution.
3. Chaotic Aspects amidst the Great Cosmic Order
If the physical universe is the creation of a conscious and intelligent entity, then why do there exist certain apparent imperfections and manifestations of chaos such as, for example, hazardous volcanoes and earthquakes, potentially catastrophic meteorites that roam freely through space, a number of viruses that could mutate into something deadly and situations of predation throughout the whole natural world?
Some nontheists reject the possibility of any kind of creator due to the chaotic aspects of the universe which they themselves perceive as defects and dysfunctions. They reason that the existence of a cosmic designer is improbable in light of this reality. However, this kind of reasoning only makes sense when it is applied to the monotheistic conceptions with regard to the nature of the cosmos such as that of the biblical tradition which suppose an omnipotent creator god and a perfect and benevolent creation made in a bottom-up manner. The truth is that our interpretation of the cosmic creation is considerably different from that of the common creationist currents. We on the other hand do not suppose a single precise and deterministic cosmogonic act on the part of some divine demiurge but rather a series of open-ended and probabilistic creative processes in the fashion of «procedural generation». The Universal Consciousness simply designs basic blueprints and templates for its future cosmic projects and then sets them in motion (a boot process which coincides with the cosmic «Big Bangs»). From there the various material simulations proceed to construct themselves on the basis of these preestablished blueprints and templates and in accordance with the probabilities. This method of creation proves to be more efficient and parsimonious. The Universal Consciousness has been able to come to produce coherent universes such as our own only through repeated trials. It has had to learn how to create. All of its emergent realities have been largely experimental. As a consequence, there still exist in its created worlds the numerous chaotic aspects which we have mentioned albeit peppered amidst the great cosmic order which predominates. Absolute perfection does not exist. There can only be better and worse options. It is all relative. Moreover, the material simulations do not even need to be perfect. It is enough for them to be sufficiently orderly for the evolution of individuated units of consciousness which is their fundamental raison d'être.
4. The Nature of Evil
What is evil and what is its origin?
Some evils such as natural adversities, physical pain, violent conflicts and even death simply constitute an inbuilt feature of the game of life in this material plane and exist as part of the simulated system through which the soul evolves. It is essential that there exist various obstacles and challenges as well as possible negative consequences to our actions if we wish to find opportunities for self-overcoming and thereby grow as beings of consciousness. What instructive value would a game have without any peril or possibility of failure?
Other evils such as diseases, genetic defects, physical and mental disabilities and all kinds of ugliness originate from a significant deviation from the original blueprints or templates of the eidetic or mental realm which underlies and organizes each creation of dense matter and represent true imperfections. Sometimes data errors and other technical glitches occur in the rendering of the material structures of the emergent realities. This is inevitable in the physical worlds given that matter cannot be as perfect as the «Substantial Forms» of pure information of the base reality of the Universal Consciousness (this same matter, however, continues to be necessary for the sustained evolution of consciousness due to its superior definition). This second kind of evil is the result of anomalies in the fabric of our reality. It is born out of punctuated increases of entropy.
How then may the evil of human actions be understood? Why do some people commit perverse acts? Every perverse act originates likewise from a lower state of consciousness, a lack of psychic maturity and a limited level of evolution of the soul, in short, a deviation of the latter from its ideal form rooted in ignorance and primitiveness. The only way to overcome a tendency towards perversity is to elevate the quality of our own consciousness and bring ourselves closer to the divine ideal of Man. Nobility is acquired through the cultivation of the soul. Enlightened beings no longer have any desire to do things that result in a harmful effect. They are solely predisposed to positive and edifying actions thanks to their higher level of consciousness.
Finally, it is important to mention that in our particular local cosmic environment evils of all sorts have experienced a disproportionate increase due to the relatively recent «archontic intrusion» which effectively represents a deviation from the natural order of the cosmos at the macro level. According to this esoteric theory, our world has fallen under the unnatural influence of the archons—a species of hostile interdimensional entities—which subject human beings through their religions of sacrifice and their systems of control from the shadows. These would be the malevolent gods who appear in the ancient myths such as the bloodthirsty biblical god Yahweh and his angels as well as the demonic «asuras» of Hindu mythology and the time of their reign would coincide with the decadent age of Kali Yuga in accordance with the same tradition (viz. «The Archontic Soul Trap»).
5. The Multiverse
Do there exist other physical universes like our own?
If we accept that our physical universe is not base reality but rather simply a successive derivative of another more fundamental entity, then it is logical to consider that there has emerged from the same base reality a great plurality of material creations populated by a plethora of evolving souls like ourselves and that our physical universe is only one of many which originate from the same eidetic and mental realm of the Original Source. Here I am specifically referring to worlds that are fully material and not to simple spiritual or etheric planes. If this virtual construct of dense matter has already emerged once at this particular point of hyperspace and in the historical moment of the cosmic «Big Bang» it is most probable—almost absolutely certain—that countless others have also emerged at other hyperspatial points and at other times of the history of the preuniverse. If this is the case the various physical universes would resemble a vast group of cosmic bubbles which inflate simultaneously from a single primary reality. This kind of multiversal scenario is highly conceivable in light of our ontological perspective. It is fair to assume that the Original Source has set in motion multiple cosmic projects for in case one of them ends in failure. Let us bear in mind that her material creations are largely experimental. Our physical universe is probably not the only one. It is unlikely to be even the first.
Questions about Reincarnation and Spirituality
1. Reincarnation Theory in the face of the Growing World Population
The number of human beings who are born on Earth has increased steadily throughout known history and in our century it exceeds seven billion. Is a reincarnative worldview congruent with this kind of steep demographic increase?
Some opponents of reincarnation allege that the ancient doctrine is unlikely to be true due to the irreconcilable reality of the growing world population. Among them is the early Christian theologian Tertullian who argued that if indeed the living are reborn from among the dead then the number of mankind in the world should always be the same. However, this line of refutation makes the mistake of presupposing not only that this observable world is the only one that exists but also that any possible process of reembodiment must necessarily be instantaneous. The truth is that the greater part of reincarnationist viewpoints do not presuppose these conditions at all.
Virtually all of the philosophical traditions which accept some form of reincarnation recognize at the same time the existence of one or more extraphysical worlds parallel to our own to which it is supposed that the souls of the dead go after their disincarnation. The Greek religion alludes to Hades, a shadowy underworld where the ghosts of the departed lead a fantasmal afterlife regardless of whether they are righteous or perverse. This concept broadly coincides with the Sumerian «Irkalla», the Hebrew «Sheol», the Hindu «Patala» and the Japanese «Yomi». In the «Myth of Er», an account of a Greek near-death experience which occupies the final paragraphs of Plato's Republic, the protagonist descends to the underworld and there he encounters various souls who are waiting for their turn to reincarnate. Modern NDE testimonies likewise seem to indicate that the souls of the dead relocate to certain spiritual (nonphysical) realms with their own topographical features after separation from their physical body. Many have called these mysterious places «astral» or «etheric» planes although the exact terminology is not important. In light of this it is possible that the consciousness of the departed may sojourn in an intermediate plane before its next incarnation. This extended astral world could have a population of unincarnated souls greater than that of the Earth which would explain the origin of the «new souls» which are now massively incarnating into this overpopulated world.
Another possibility is that the Original Source of pure consciousness continues to beget legions of newborn souls from itself in an ongoing process of «animogenesis» and that some of these arrive at our world due to the growing increase of incarnative opportunities which results from the recent demographic growth of the planet. The notion that all of the souls in existence had to appear at the same time in the moment of the creation of the universe is nothing more than a theological prejudice inherited from the creationist tradition. Our conception of the cosmos, on the other hand, allows for multiple stages of creation as well as evolving or even infinite cosmogonic processes.
2. The Independent Existence of Consciousness vs. The Physicalist Model
What is the origin of consciousness? Does it exist independently of the body or is it produced by the material brain?
Materialist science assumes that consciousness cannot be anything more than a mere epiphenomenal product of the material brain. This physicalist explanation is simply taken for granted. At first sight the supposed preeminent role of matter seems quite self-evident. Certain neurological injuries cause significant impairments of motor and sensory functions. A bad state of the brain leads to a reduction of mental performance. Certain substances such as alcohol which affect the nervous system serve to diminish the scope of consciousness and produce a loss of muscular coordination and a delay of reflexes in the short term. In light of these facts it would be expected that all mental properties were indeed an epiphenomenon of physical biology.
However, the reality is that things are not that simple. Here there is no evidence that it is the brain that is creating consciousness. The material brain and nervous system could serve as a sort of «receiving antenna» which receives our non-local consciousness on this plane and allows us to control our temporary body of flesh and interact with the world of matter. This possibility is absolutely congruent with reincarnation theory. Indeed, according to NDE testimonies, the greater part of experiencers report having experienced a certain perceptual fullness and even a state of hyperconsciousness far superior to their normal state of consciousness, which would suggest that our preexisting consciousness becomes subject to the restrictions of physical biology when it incarnates into a new body and then finds itself free from these in the moment of its disincarnation. Logically if the «receiving antenna» suffers damages and ceases to function correctly the «ghost in the machine» loses its medium through which it normally controls the functions of the body in which it is incarnated finding itself more restricted than usual.
Let us consider the analogy of a television set. If we distort the antenna, cut the cables or break the screen the television set can no longer receive or reproduce the signal but even then nobody believes that the television set produces the signal. Everybody knows that the signal arrives from an outside source.
3. Our Physical and Mental Attributes in each Life
How are the inborn characteristics of each individual determined? Do things such as physical appearance, intellectual abilities and psychological dispositions originate from the soul or from the genetic constitution of the body in which it incarnates?
Our physical and mental attributes in each life are determined by a complex interplay between the inherent qualities of the preexisting constitution of the soul and the genetic factors that are inherited from the biological parents of the body. At the time of conception the soul couples itself with its new physical vessel and a symbiotic relationship between the two is established. Some attributes belonging to the soul influence the development of certain traits of the new earthly personality whereas other aspects of the person receive a significant imprint of the genetic determinants of the biological family. In the end the result is a unique combination of the spiritual and the material.
Attributes that are more mental such as intellectual proclivities, core aspects of personality and psychic maturity as well as certain unusual gifts present since childhood, esthetic tastes, extreme phobias and personal idiosyncrasies originate largely from the soul of the person and are the result of the vast experiences of many previous incarnate lives. These things are more fundamental. Some children display a considerably high level of intelligence and exceptional artistic talent with few years of age despite the fact that none of their close relatives possess these qualities. It is likely that these people have been skilled thinkers and artists in other times and conserve many of their former intellectual sensitivities and interests in this current life. Other children feel identified with particular cultures or styles or suffer from some kind of irrational phobia without any explanation. Dr. Ian Stevenson theorized that these phenomena may have their origin in subconscious memories arising from one or more past lives. Reincarnation theory is able to explain various peculiarities of human personality.
Physical or biological attributes such as physiognomy, musculature, metabolism and genetic health, on the other hand, depend primarily upon the hereditary genetic factors that characterize the body in which the soul has been incarnated although one cannot discount a simultaneous secondary influence of the inherent attributes of the preexisting soul in the development of all of these aspects of the person. The biological world is also evolutive. The genes of physical bodies in the realm of dense matter go through a series of mutations. The souls who incarnate into these vehicles find themselves subject to the physical restrictions that their genes impose. A soul who is born into a biological family whose members have a genetic disposition which favors classically beautiful features such as a high degree of facial symmetry and neoteny will enjoy a greater level of beauty in this life whereas another soul who is born into a body characterized by brain structures associated with autism will inherit an autistic disposition finding itself substantially limited in the social aspects of life throughout its current material incarnation. The reembodiment of our consciousness into a physical body with a prevalence of positive genes will normally contribute to a more positive incarnation.
4. The Oblivion of Past Lives
Why are the majority of people unable to remember our past lives?
Some skeptics assert that if reincarnation were true a large number of people would remember all of their past lives with great clarity and in great detail but since this is not the case it is unlikely that reincarnation really exists. The Christian bishop Irenaeus, for example, believed that the fact that men generally do not remember anything related to their own experiences in supposed previous states of existence may be used to undermine the Hellenistic doctrine of the transmigration of souls. However, I retort that the arguments of this kind fail to take into account the known characteristics of memory.
Our memory has several distinct layers. Some are more immediate and easier to recall whereas others find themselves in the depths of the subconscious mind and may only be accessed in anomalous mental states such as hypnosis or trances produced by meditation and entheogenic substances. The fact that one has no conscious or immediate remembrance of some personal event does not mean that it did not exist. Most people are unable to remember their dreams from last night but they existed in their mind. No man remembers his own birth but nobody would deny that it happened. We are not even able to remember the majority of the events which have happened throughout our present life. Therefore, it is fair to assume that the experiences of our past lives would find themselves stored in a more secluded part of the soul that could not be accessed under normal circumstances. It is obvious that their memories are not going to be in the common neuronal structures of this present physical body but rather in a much more distant prephysical place.
Some reincarnationists theorize that our memories of previous incarnations and intermediate spiritual planes are typically wiped for some reason or another before we reincarnate into the material world. Plato in defense of his own doctrine asserted that this is the case citing the common Greek myth that the souls in the underworld are required to drink from the cup of oblivion before undertaking their next incarnation. For some proponents this kind of induced oblivion is a necessary measure for this life to provide instructive value or be exempt of all of the traumas and negative experiences of the totality of our past lives whereas for others such as esotericists influenced by gnostic ideas we tend not to have substantial remembrances of any previous incarnation because the archons or impostor angels have wiped the greater part of our spiritual memory in order to reincarnate us into their oppressive prison that is this world and continue to deceive us time and again. This is another explanation of why reincarnated souls find it so hard to access their prephysical memories.
Nevertheless, there exist all over the place a small minority of children who are able to remember their most recent past life with considerable accuracy until about seven years of age. Many of these cases have been investigated by the renowned psychiatrist Dr. Ian Stevenson and his disciple Dr. Jim Tucker. How is it that these few sensitive children still have access to memories of this nature? It is noteworthy that in many of the studied cases the child remembers a recent adult life in which he himself suffered a sudden and violent death such as a horrific accident or a vicious murder. Another important point is that these children tend to reincarnate very soon often in a matter of just a few years. It is therefore possible that in the cases of this kind the child is able to remember a significant part of his previous incarnation due to a greater degree of emotional attachment to his former identity or to the circumstances of his past death and also because of the fact that he has reincarnated so soon without having gone through any spiritual plane such as that which is described in NDE testimonies or the «underworld» of which Plato spoke or the «archontic soul trap» in accordance with the theories of the archons.
Some adults claim to relive certain episodes of their past lives during sessions of hypnosis. These techniques are known as «past-life regressions». Nevertheless, I myself am inclined to doubt the validity of these methods.
5. The Need for Reincarnation as a Mechanism for the Evolution of Consciousness
Why do we need several different incarnations in order to achieve godhood?
Initially, when souls are still at a somewhat primitive level, a broad variety of life experiences are required for the growth of each soul. One learns only through consistent practice. First of all the soul must learn how to survive within the strict constraints of the material worlds in which its various incarnations will take place. Material existence is very different from the domain of pure spirit from which it originates. Here the newcomer must know how to hunt with skill, find water and other natural resources, shelter himself from the elements of nature and face enemies in physical contests. All of these things pose difficulties for the newcomer and require various lives for their mastery often accompanied by countless failures. Once the soul has managed to master basic survival it must begin to work on its mental faculties and develop all of its intellectual abilities. This constitutes the second important stage of its evolution. The intellectual being learns how to reason. He explores the manifold areas related to philosophy and culture. He continues to cultivate his scholarly, artistic, musical and introspective talents. As it is obvious, these kinds of intellectual worlds are vast and therefore the complete cultivation of the mental faculties likewise requires several lives in multiple suitable environments.
Nevertheless, later in the advanced stages of the evolutionary course of consciousness, reincarnation itself begins to become more of a hindrance, something undesirable. Many relatively short yet at the same time diversity-rich lives are no longer sufficient for the tasks of greater magnitude that the more evolved beings choose to undertake. Now what proves to be beneficial are longevity and stability. The soul has become ready for spirituality, true spiritual practice, the path of godhood accompanied by the immortality of the physical body. Its rightful task in accordance with the natural order of life is that of transmuting itself into a human god through the «alchemy» of the soul, of forging itself into a lofty superhuman with the total ascension of the Kundalini, of progressing once and for all from the mere present Homo Sapiens into the exalted Homo Divinus which is to come, having achieved the glorious «Opus Magnum» of the spirit. This is the essence of true alchemy. Its medium is the sacred Yoga or the science of enlightenment which Prometheus himself (or the Serpent of Eden) bequeathed us according to ancient mythology. The apotheosis or the immortalization of the self in a divine body of flesh represents the authentic liberation from the wheel of «samsāra». This achievement is what brings an end to the seemingly endless cycle of reincarnation. The transformation into an immortal god is the ultimate destiny of the anthropic species. It is useless to return to the Original Source of pure spirit and merge with her as the philosophies of the New Age teach (what are we going to do if we are once again in the initial realm of incorporeal information devoid of material form*?).
*Materiality was created for a specific purpose. It constitutes the sphere of action and proves to be indispensable for the evolution of consciousness. It is not inherently evil or impure or less important as some religious currents have asserted throughout history.
6. The Sex of the Soul
Does each soul have its own fixed sex (masculine or feminine) or is it of a fundamentally androgynous nature incarnating into masculine and feminine lives in an alternating manner?
Souls by and large have their own fixed sex and tend to incarnate exclusively into bodies of the sex which matches with them. Or alternatively the incarnation of a masculine soul into a developing fetus will cause that new body to assume masculine sexual characteristics after 49 days of gestation when the sex of the fetus is typically defined. In the prephysical planes the sexes constitute opposite yet at the same time complementary energetic or spiritual essences. All souls include a mixture of both polarities in varying degrees. A single polarity is always dominant and this predominance determines the sex of the soul. Dr. Ian Stevenson discovered that changes of sex between lives was exceptionally rare in the cases which he investigated. The boys almost always remembered a most recent past life as a man and the girls likewise almost invariably claimed that they had been women. And in the negligible minority of cases in which the subject remembered having been of the opposite sex notable symptoms of gender dysphoria were often present.
What occurs with homosexual and transsexual people?
All souls combine energies of both polarities as I have just mentioned. Men possess a high percentage of energies of the masculine polarity and women on the other hand are characterized by a strong prevalence of energies of the feminine polarity. Not all men are ultra-masculine. Some have more feminine spiritual qualities despite being of the masculine sex. The reverse also occurs. A minority of masculine souls have or end up acquiring throughout their incarnate lives a percentage of energies of the feminine polarity disproportionate with relation to their basic gender. In these souls high levels of effeminacy and sexual inversion develop. It is for this reason that homosexual tendencies and transsexualism emerge.
Many will intuitively assume that transsexuals will be feminine souls born into masculine bodies. However, while it is possible that this kind of soul-body mismatch may occur as we have already seen, it is not by any means the primary cause of transsexualism. A large part of male-to-female transsexuals are simply homosexual masculine souls who have reached an extreme level of spiritual effeminacy (the «homosexual transsexual» according to Blanchard's typology) and a second group of male-to-female transsexuals is made up of autogynephilic heterosexual men who wish to transform themselves into a facsimile of the opposite sex due to some kind of transvestic fetishism born out of an inverted heterosexuality (the «autogynephilic transsexual» according to the same typology). In the end, in most cases homosexuals as well as so-called homosexual transsexuals in accordance with Blanchard's terminology are born that way due to an exceptionally high quantity of energies of the feminine polarity in a masculine soul.
Addendum: In many cases sexual inversion forms part of the individual nature of the soul and should be respected like any other natural characteristic. Any kind of homophobia or transphobia derives from an erroneous understanding of human sexuality.
7. Places of Birth and Ethnic Tendencies
Some esoteric groups speak about the concept of soul race. They assert that there exist such things as a «Mediterranean soul», a «Germanic soul», an «Asian soul», and so on and that we all belong to a particular ethnic soul type.
Do there exist ethnic affiliations at the level of the soul? It is true that many souls reincarnate over and again in the same tribe or nation?
In the most fundamental plane all souls originate from the Original Source and are of a spiritual essence which precedes any earthly nationality and therefore do not possess an inherent ethnic affiliation. The concept of ethnicity or nation still does not exist at that level. Indeed, Dr. Ian Stevenson and his colleagues found some cases of children who remembered a past life in a faraway and culturally different country such as a Burmese boy who claimed to have been a Japanese adult before his birth and a Lebanese girl who insisted that she had belonged to an Indian community in her most recent previous incarnation. It seems that some souls incarnate into a variety of greatly different cultures.
Nevertheless, many souls on the other hand may develop strong ethnic tendencies throughout their many incarnate lives if they live a significant number of incarnations in a specific country or cultural bloc. For example, a soul who has lived many lives in countries such as Spain and Italy may acquire many cultural tastes associated with these regions and thereby come to conceive itself as a «Latin soul» or a «Mediterranean soul». A large part of the children studied by Dr. Ian Stevenson and other researchers claimed to have had another existence as an adult in another town of the same country or in another nearby and culturally similar country. It is possible that this tendency is largely due to the human preference for familiarity in the moment of reincarnation and that this propensity is what gives rise to the so-called ethnic soul types.
The ethnic preferences acquired in our past lives may affect our present life. Often our reincarnative past causes us inner conflicts. A soul who is reborn into a place that is alien to its preferred cultural bloc will find itself unsettled in its new culture of birth. For example, a «Mediterranean soul» reincarnated into a Germanic or Nordic environment may experience a sort of «oikophobia» or aversion to its own country and people of this incarnation as well as a strong rejection of its new society and its new mother tongue. There are people who harbor hatred towards the culture in which they have been born and love on the other hand a particular foreign culture as though it were their own. These could be souls of a fixed ethnic soul group reincarnated this time into a territory which is unfamiliar and somewhat hostile to the true nature of their innermost being.
8. The Significance of Family in a Reincarnative Framework
What does family mean in each one of our lives? Do we share spiritual ties with our biological relatives or alternatively is our incarnation into our present family due to chance?
Many souls have spiritual relatives who belong to the same soul group and with whom they share strong ties of love which surpass flesh and blood. Often these kindred souls incarnate en bloc into the same family or into the same community. The reason for this is that many people naturally prefer to incarnate with familiar souls if given the opportunity. We also have circumstantial relatives whom we meet for the first time in this incarnation and with whom we share only a biological kinship. We have the option to form new spiritual ties with these unfamiliar souls if we so desire; however, more often than not we have very little in common with them and they continue to be simply people who populate the peripheries of our personal world by coincidence.
9. Lives in Other Habitable Worlds
Are earthling souls able to choose to reincarnate on other planets within this vast universe or even in the material worlds of other universes?
There exist billions of exoplanets which revolve around exotic suns in this galaxy alone. It is hypothesized that thousands of these harbor intelligent life and even advanced extraterrestrial civilizations. This philosophical postulate is known as the «plurality of worlds». It is conceivable at least in theory that some souls are able to reincarnate on other faraway planets that include a compatible anthropic project under certain circumstances and having fulfilled certain requirements such as, for example, a high enough level of evolution. Indeed, the Egyptian mythology of the time of the Old Kingdom included the belief that a minority of noble souls could enter «Duat» (known also as «Amenti»), a world of the gods situated in the constellation of Orion, after their death. Could this be an esoteric allusion to reincarnation on another planet populated by higher beings?
Nevertheless, the truth is that the research into possible cases of reincarnation carried out by Dr. Ian Stevenson and his colleagues has not yielded any instance of a child who claims to remember a past life in an extraterrestrial world, which would suggest that most people are bound to this planet for some reason or another. For us who accept the theory of the «archontic soul trap» we have been trapped in this particular local cosmic environment since the fateful invasion of the archons and we continue to be forced to reincarnate time and again in this dystopian world as their impotent cattle. These hostile beings would be the famous «beings of light» which appear in the later stages of NDEs often with the form of various religious figures and supposedly advise us concerning our future incarnations (the so-called «lords of karma» in accordance with the teachings of the New Age). It has been speculated that they feed off the negative energy produced by our suffering as well as our devotion to their various false religions. The Brazilian spiritist film «Nosso Lar» depicts this situation well. After death souls are confined to astral cities which are situated not too far from the physical Earth where they prepare their next incarnation—of course inevitably on Earth—under the guidance of certain «spiritual guides». They are told that there exists an infinite number of other worlds but that they have to return always to this planet with all of its beauty. They are not allowed to leave the astral cities or explore any other world. Eventually they all reincarnate here whether they like it or not.
Will it be possible to evade this archontic soul trap after death and flee to another system of reincarnation that is still free? I speculate that some rebellious souls who have achieved a high degree of enlightenment and spiritual evolution in this life may be able to escape from the tyranny of these perverse archons and relocate to higher worlds that remain outside of their inglorious network of control. The great majority of unenlightened souls, however, will continue to believe in the same programs of deception—in the Christs, the Buddhas and the Ascended Masters—and reincarnate ad infinitum into this same dystopia for the benefit of the impostor gods.
10. The Degree of Personal Control over our own Incarnations
How is the destiny of our lives in this world determined? Do we choose in a voluntary manner the circumstances of our lives or alternatively are we at the mercy of the decisions of higher beings?
The sects of the New Age typically teach that we ourselves choose the circumstances and the general course of each one of our incarnations under the guidance of certain «guides» or «angels». Some authors connect these supposed spiritual teachers of humanity with the famous «beings of light» which apparently receive the souls of the departed in many NDE testimonies as we have alluded previously. They assert that these entities advise souls to agree to various «karmic plans» for the purpose of paying off their «karmic debts» and learning new «lessons of life». According to this popular perspective, many of the instances of extreme misfortune in life such as a severe congenital defect, a debilitating illness, abject poverty, personal impotence and even sexual abuse are variables which we ourselves choose in a voluntary manner as means of our own «spiritual evolution».
Other philosophers and esotericists present a much more oppositional interpretation of this whole situation. We theorize that the greater part of the souls of this planet are manipulated lifetime after lifetime within the deceptive network of the infamous archons (a species of interdimensional demonic predators) and forced to reincarnate continuously into this world under adverse circumstances. According to this different and understandably unpopular perspective, these same «demons» of unknown origin masquerade as beautiful angelic or divine figures in the astral or etheric plane of this planetary system and attempt to convince recently disincarnated souls to accept their «karmic conditions» and return to their miserable plantation of slavery without complaint. If this scenario is true,—and we believe that it is the most probable one—, these archontic impostors have erected a veritable illusion in the astral environs of our planet. Their localized astral simulation cuts us off from the rest of the spiritual cosmos where there is true freedom and encloses us in their planetary prison.
It is undeniable that this society in which we live is little more than a nauseating dystopia of human enslavement and the worst misery. One finds everywhere all kinds of oppression and inhumanity. For many this whole panorama has little meaning and even less so in light of the supposed doctrine of «karma». What kind of soul would come here voluntarily in order to spend lifetime after lifetime as a miserable economic slave in this oppressive and absurd system or suffer from a horrific congenital disease or a debilitating disorder? What kind of soul would choose to incarnate into a deformed and impotent body or agree to experience sexual abuse in a hostile family environment? And in order to learn what lesson? This doctrine is a deception. It has nothing of truth. The so-called «karma» of these beings of dubious identity only serves as a pretext to enslave us through false debts. The «light», the «tunnel», the «life reviews» and the «lords of karma» are nothing more than a trap which awaits us on the other side. All of the «heavens» and «astral cities» as well as the «hellish realms» are illusory creations of the archontic impostors.
The degree of personal control that we possess over our own incarnations—and this is much speculation on my part—depends largely upon how we act and what happens to us on the other side in the moment of our disincarnation. There are several scenarios.
If we allow ourselves to be deceived by the «beings of light» and the mysterious «tunnel» and go with them to their heavenly realms or astral cities or wherever they wish to take us we will have to negotiate the conditions of our next incarnation with them and accept many of the circumstances that they choose. Perhaps we may contest some of the details and obtain a somewhat more favorable incarnative plan. However, it is possible that they will manipulate us with threats of sending us to the hellish realms if we do not wish to cooperate with their proposals alleging that the incarnation that they propose is an opportunity for the repayment of certain «karmic debts». When faced with this situation the greater part of souls will simply agree to their offers without further resistance.
If we see through their trap and decide to flee without paying attention to their deceptions we will become fugitives and rebels against the system. In this case we will remain within their astral matrix but we will be able to move freely to some extent. I cannot even imagine what the conditions will be like in this situation. I surmise that many of these souls on the run will be able to reincarnate with greater freedom if they have not been able to find an exit from this second archontic prison. Of course, their incarnative options will depend completely upon the availability of places on the physical Earth. Many souls will seek to incarnate independently in order to escape from that strange and disorienting place. There they will perceive considerable danger. It is possible that a minority of enlightened souls may find a way to escape from the system altogether. If this is the case those will free themselves from the trap and will be able to relocate to another system of soul evolution that is far from the archontic influence and enjoys freedom.
I understand that this oppositional perspective is rather dismal and terrifying and may displease many people or even offend them but I myself do not see any justice or benevolence in this strange game of «karma» and have come to the conclusion that these authoritarian entities which appear frequently in near-death experiences and about which many of the conformist religions speak are false gods and shameless fraudsters who have us enslaved in an aberrant system which has nothing to do with the original cosmic plan. We must be skeptical of the intentions of these unknown beings.
11. Reincarnation and Mediumship
If the souls of the departed pass into other planes and then reincarnate into other lives, then how does mediumistic perception function and with what do mediums communicate?
In many cases mediums do not communicate directly with the souls of the departed but rather manage to access certain «databases» of the fundamental mental substratum of the creation from which they may often retrieve accurate and relevant details pertaining to the life and the death of somebody in particular. All reality, in the same vein as the mind, is ultimately made up of digital data or endless fragments of pure consciousness and as such some people with a high level of psychic sensitivity are able to tune into these data streams located in the etheric planes with their own extended mind and interpret certain historical contents that are stored therein. These accessible databases coincide with the «akashic records» of which much is spoken in the sphere of modern esotericism. The spirits of the dead do not sit around waiting for the calls of the living. They must resume their existence in other places and eventually undertake new material incarnations. But still there remains residual information related to their former identities. Many mediums access this same residual information but the majority of them will simply assume that they have made contact with disincarnate souls without even considering the possibility of an archival origin of the data that they retrieve. Humans of this physical reality tend to interpret all coherent intelligence in anthropomorphic terms.
In other cases mediums can be deceived by deceptive parasitic entities or even by the archons themselves. There is no way of knowing for sure what kind of entity mediumistically retrieved information comes from no matter how accurate or relevant it might be. I have suspected for some time now that so-called «ghosts» are in reality an unknown species of energetic parasites of an interdimensional origin which can adopt various different appearances and seek to leach energy (emotional or psychic) from the people whom they haunt. Why else would encounters with these spooky beings almost always involve some kind of harassment? It is easy to understand why they would masquerade as the souls of the departed in the presence of a medium. Or in some cases the contacted entities could be archontic impostors determined to convince everybody who will listen that what awaits us on the other side is a wonderful world and that all of the dead are doing okay in order to reinforce their primary deception which is their soul trap together with forced reincarnation under the guise of «karma» (they do the same with the sects of the New Age and their other false religions with all of their channelings and «Pleiadian messages»). The archons possess a high level of control over the neighboring planes of our physical reality. They could easily deceive a medium or a sensitive person for their own perverse ends.
12. The Fraud of «Karmic Retribution»
If we reject any notion of «karma» as a system of reward and punishment for good and bad actions, then what happens to criminals and evildoers who perpetrate injustices throughout their incarnate lives? Is there not judgment or condemnation for them?
It is evident that very few people have truly managed to understand humanity. Any concept of «morality» that revolves around the idea of rewards and punishments on a cosmic scale for moral and immoral deeds is based on an erroneous understanding of human nature. Human beings act only in accordance with our natural instincts and our present level of consciousness. It is the quality of the latter that determines our intentions and our behavioral patterns at any given moment of life. A person of high consciousness will naturally possess an abundance of empathy and a desire to elevate himself and others while a person of low consciousness will only be prone to malevolent thoughts and destructive behaviors.
People who swindle, mistreat, murder and perpetrate rape generally do so out of ignorance or a lack of consciousness. Their souls vibrate at such a low frequency that they are not even able to empathize with their victims or understand that their actions are detrimental. What good will «karmic retribution» do? More murders and more acts of abuse will only beget more confusion and more suffering! Human beings can only become more noble and more empathic by seeking enlightenment and raising our frequency of vibration. Once we have reached a certain level of spiritual evolution we no longer desire to lead a life of vice or harm others. Our consciousness already detests those things and only longs for the elevation of the individual and the whole of society. Only immature souls allow themselves to be deceived by such childish notions as «karma» and «moralities» of the reward-punishment type. Highly evolved souls on the other hand understand that consciousness is the beginning of everything and that all evils are the product of unconsciousness or consciencial blindness.
These are some of my own speculative answers from our particular idealist perspective with regard to certain fundamental ontological matters such as the origin of the cosmos, the nature of consciousness and the metaphysical forces behind the evolution of life as well as various questions related to reincarnation theory, spiritual evolution and the ultimate destiny of Man. The opinions which I have presented in this article constitute philosophical reflections and a personal interpretation. They do not constitute by any means an absolute revelation or a religious dogma to be imposed. I am not a prophet. I simply wish to share my own ideas pertaining to topics of this character. It is possible to catch some glimpses of spiritual and supraphysical realities beyond our immediate physical world through certain empirical data such as those obtained from the numerous testimonies of near-death experiences and then proceed to extrapolate from them logical conclusions. Nevertheless, perhaps there will always remain particular unknowns that can only be addressed through philosophical and speculative means. Take these opinions as information and compare them with other points of view. Always investigate things on your own account with open-mindedness and true skepticism and reach your own conclusions with the greatest amount of information possible.
